DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. announced on September 28 that it is launching “KUROCONEX,” a new brand aimed at creating fresh value in resource circulation. KUROCONEX serves as an umbrella name for the DOWA Group’s resource circulation-related products and services, including recycled metals. Building on the resource circulation technologies and domestic and international networks the group has cultivated over the years, DOWA intends to advance co-creation with partners under this brand.
The brand covers recycled metals, products made using recycled metals, and processing services, spanning a wide range of items such as potassium gold cyanide, shot gold, electrolytic zinc, tin, and water-atomized copper alloy powder (AOA). Products and services included under the brand have either obtained third-party certification or meet the DOWA Group’s internal standards as confirmed by a third party, ensuring that all offerings carry verified reliability.
The name KUROCONEX embodies three ideas.
The first is “KUROKO,” derived from “kuroko” (black ore), the origin point of the DOWA Group’s business. Kuroko ore contains multiple metals—including gold, silver, copper, zinc, and rare metals—but also large amounts of impurities that make separation difficult, so smelting it remains extremely challenging even today. The DOWA Group overcame this difficulty by establishing its own separation and extraction technologies, which now form the technical foundation of the company.
The second element, “CONNECT,” reflects the aim of strengthening the linkage of technologies and information across the group’s various business units, while co-creating with partners both in Japan and overseas to generate circulation that no single company could achieve alone.
The third element, “NEXT・X,” expresses the aspiration for a society in which continuing to use finite resources is not a special initiative but a natural, default choice. It envisions a future in which resources are reborn again and again through a circular mechanism of collecting, sorting, and making.
The brand’s launch is set against a backdrop in which companies are increasingly required to secure stable resource supplies while sustaining their business operations, amid resource depletion, heightened geopolitical risk, and tightening environmental regulations. Building on its separation and extraction technologies, the DOWA Group has generated value from a diverse range of resources, while also building trust by properly assessing the resources it collects—establishing resource collection networks both in Japan and abroad. Resources gathered through this network undergo material recovery and are returned to society in the form of materials and products.
