Saitama Prefecture has launched a programme to generate circular economy case studies centred on industrial parks, where companies are concentrated, with the aim of promoting efficient use of resources and energy and the recycling of waste.
The programme will begin by compiling information on industrial parks throughout the prefecture — including park size and the characteristics of tenant companies — and then holding preliminary briefing sessions at the targeted parks. Following those briefings, an intent survey will be conducted to select candidate parks for hands-on support, and groups will be formed consisting of multiple companies located within the same industrial park. The target is to form at least ten groups, with care taken to ensure that common challenges, needs and regional attributes are not skewed, and with the basic policy of one group per park.
The formed company groups will receive hands-on support aimed at commercialising circular economy initiatives. The scope of support will extend beyond inter-company collaboration within the industrial park to which a group belongs, and will also cover the possibility of collaboration with companies in neighbouring areas. The results of the hands-on support provided will be verified and analysed, including their potential applicability to other cases.
Saitama Prefecture ranks among the top prefectures nationally in terms of gross prefectural product and manufactured goods shipment value, and is home to a large number of industrial parks where companies from diverse sectors — including food manufacturing and automotive-related industries — are clustered.
To mark the launch of this programme, the prefecture will hold a briefing session for businesses on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 13:30 to 14:30, in a hybrid format combining an in-person session at Shibusawa MIX (a business support facility in Saitama) and a webinar. For details, see here.
