The Kyushu Electrical Safety Association (a general incorporated foundation), Greener Inc., and Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. signed the “Alliance Agreement on Building a Solar Panel Resource Circulation Information Platform” on September 16, 2026, aiming to address social challenges related to solar panel resource circulation and to create new business opportunities.
Under the agreement, the three parties will make use of Greener’s system. Information on maintenance inspections and processing results will be drawn from “SOLAWELL,” a solar panel maintenance service provided by the Kyushu Electrical Safety Association, and from the one-stop processing service for used solar panels offered by the Kyushu Electric Power Group. Using this information, the parties will explore building a “Solar Panel Resource Circulation Information Platform.”
Based on this platform, the companies aim to forecast the volume of discarded solar panels and the resulting processing demand, and to use these forecasts to build an efficient reuse and recycling system. The goal is to prepare for the large volume of panel disposals expected in the future and to promote resource circulation.
Other companies are also moving ahead with efforts to build information-system-based frameworks for solar panel reuse and recycling. Lixia, a company jointly funded by Marubeni and Hamada, released a web platform in October 2024 that consolidates the reuse and recycling procedures for used solar panels into a single service. The platform conducts full performance inspections on all panels and sells them with its own warranty, and the company says it plans to expand functionality further, including developing a panel diagnostic system and strengthening traceability.
